Marquita Flowers is a multi-disciplinary artist, filmmaker, arts educator and budding writer from the Bronx, NY. Marquita's practice, irrespective of medium, is rooted in a deep interest in memory, oral histories, migration, visibility and mining personal archives to create work that illuminates the lived experiences of people around her.
Marquita's practice is fueled by a daily pursuit of empathy and she often develops new projects, with the intention of thinking about whom the work can be in service to, who has a voice and whose stories are impacted by the work created.
Marquita Flowers received her BFA from Otis College of Art and Design (2014). After a brief hiatus she is currently returning her studio practice and developing a curatorial practice that supports her belief that art can also have tangible functions within a larger cultural context and can be in service to others.
