We are pleased to invite you to our upcoming solo show: El Oficio, by Humberto Saenz!
This series illustrates Saenz's research on pre-Columbian Codex imagery, which has been appropriated into collective themes of wage, class assignment, and manual labor in the United States of America. The work acknowledges the necessity of the American dream with its true nature through proliferation of the working class. The figures, which represent gods, acknowledge the essential and significance of engaging in the labor force as part of the capitalist dream. Therefore, the figures engage in the society through employment in its working class.
